Grunge glamor holiday makeup using nothing but drugstore products.
My favorite type of challenge.
Let’s dig into this fun look.
When creating this look I was really drawn to the toppers in the essence cosmetics palette “Don’t Worry Be.”
Here are the steps.
Grunge Glamor Holiday Makeup Step One
Before you begin any makeup look — I recommend prepping your face. This is the best way to make sure your makeup sticks and blends well.
I didn’t use primer because my sunscreen is great at doubling as my primer.
Here is how I layer my skincare most days.
Next, I stippled two layers of the Maybelline’s 24 hr Super Stay skintint on with a brush.
I used the shade 322.
Please note: You may want to start with your eyeshadow before your base — I was able to get this on with little to no fuss, even with foundation. The clean-up was pretty easy.
Step 2
I love to powder my t-zone right after applying my foundation.
To powder, I used the ELF’s Loose HD powder.
I powder with this triangle pad, or I use a smaller brush.
Steps 3 & 4 – Into the Gray’s
I went to town with the eyeshadow using the “Don’t Worry….Be” palette by essence.
First, I started with the lightest shade of grey. It goes on really lightly.
This went all over the lid.
Next I applied the darkest gray matte shade in the four-pan on the lower lid with my fingers to get more pigment onto my skin.
Steps 4 & 5 – The Topper Shades
With your fingers take on the glittery silver topper shade and apply all over the bottom lid.
Next, on the lower lid and outer section of the lid take your finger into the gold topper and pat that on.
Step 6 – 8 | The Dark Duo Shade
For this step I used the darkest shade in the palette as the smokey part of the look.
To smoke out the eye — I used a smaller angled brush most of the time, and I drag the color onto the crease where my lid naturally folds into the lower eye lid area.
I drag that over the crease and into the lower outer corner of the lower lid.
For this particular palette, I had better luck applying this color with my fingers on the lower lid, and fanning the color with a blending brush.
Lining the bottom lash line with the same dark shade.
To spruce up the brow area, I went back into the top eyelid area — brushing the lightest shade of gray just below the brow bone.
Next, I top the lower outer lid again in the gold shade.
Step 9 & 10 – Grunge Glamor Holiday Makeup
We finish the eyes with a subtle cat eye.
I love using Elf’s liquid liner. It is exquisite and reminds me of one I used in the early 2000s from Sephora.
From there, you can add lashes and mascara. I just added mascara.
Lips
I lined my lips in the NYX lip pencil Casis and wore the lipstick “Fig” by smash box.
A great contender to the shade Fig — is Vampire Love in the shade 777, by Revlon. Very similar in shade and texture. Creamy. Not matte.
Cheeks
For cheeks, I dipped into a beautiful peachy pink tone from the Bellini palette from BH cosmetics in the shade Georgia Peach.
Here is a similar shade.
Final Steps
Finish the look with a final powdering of your t-zone and putting on your favorite matte finishing spray.
I finished the look with a sequined blazer and pant set.
Happy Holidays.
