Are we ready for the Uggs versus their dupes conversation?

Truth be told, I love my UGGS, and I love MY FUGGS.

Equally.

Do you want to know a little secret? I was terrified to try the dupe version of the Ugg Tasman slipper.

Boy, was I pleasantly surprised, and any snobbery I had went “to the window to the wall.”

The Dupes are so good these days.

I mean, so very good.

The Ugg Mid-Length Boot – Uggs Versus Their Dupes

I had my ugg mid-length boots from 2011 until 2022, when I finally replaced them.

Honestly, I wish I had held onto them — they were quality.

The kind of quality that Ugg currently doesn’t have.

The boots lasted through so many winters and rarely stained.

I cannot say the same for their more recent manufactured products.

The UGG Mini’s

I have mine in the olive green bootie.

Super cozy.

Lovely.

Easily trashed with the slightest accident.

They lasted me about a year without issue.

By this summer, I regretted not padding them down with water resistant protectant.

I did eventually winterize all my boots after the mishap with these shoes when I was on the coast.

Lesson learned.

The Ugg Mini Platforms

Since I had a mishap with my green mini Uggs, I thought this year I could upgrade to the platforms, which is what I wanted the year before, but they were sold out (in 2022).

Bummer.

So I took my chances and bought them in the early fall (this past year) in the color mustered seed — to remind me that you “need to have faith the size of a mustered seed.” You know?

I was super excited with these.

Your feet can just slide into them because the base is pretty sturdy. This isn’t always the case, as the shoe gets worn in, but in the early stages it works great.

The material? Well I took every precaution, and sprayed them with water resistant spray.

The verdict? It doesn’t really matter. The material stains and is nowhere near the same quality as the Ugg boots in the early to mid-aughts.

So when I saw the platform shearling Tasman’s, I reasoned that I should have no issue buying the dupe.

The Ugg Tasman Slipper Dupe

I found them on Amazon, and they took a few weeks to arrive, and I have been obsessed with them ever since.

Great price.

Amazing quality. I cannot really tell the difference in quality to the Ugg brand (tbh).

They run a little small. I have size 9 to 9.5 feet, and I would say these run small.

Size 9 was the highest this shoe was offered in (which I also didn’t love).

If you’re between shoe sizes these shoes can be uncomfortable until you break them in.

Eventually they do get there. 

What Is The Deal?

Well, I think that if you want to save your money — you should save your money.

If you want to splurge on the real thing — the brand itself in quality is rarely it’s own inception.

Fuggs have come a long way, and Uggs have quietly regressed in quality and kept up in style.

At the end of the day…

Do what you want.
