Spring Trends on a Budget — What will you be adding to your closet this spring?
Whether it is cleaning out your closet, reworking your clothes to make new outfits, or sprinkling in some new pieces, I think this blog post can help you stay on track and on budget.
To do this, you really need to know what your wants are, what your needs are, and what your closet gaps are.
I think doing this helps anyone to clear out their closet.
Reorganizing to donate or resell what you are parting with takes a lot of the mental load off of the decision-making process.
Closet Clear-Out Questions
What did you like about the clothes you decided to buy but now want to part with?
What are things you’re naturally gravitating towards that you already own?
These types of questions really help narrow it down to help you reorganize and re-group your wardrobe (for all seasons).
Are you a trend wearer? A trend sprinkler? Or someone who can’t be bothered with such nonsense?
Equally important question.
How do you feel about your outfits when you do get dressed?
Do you have a wishlist?
Get Critical
If you do have a wishlist — Check it out. Add to it. Take away from it. Get really critical about what it is that you do want.
Start saying things like – “I thought I liked this sweater, but it’s actually shapeless and really terrible to style on my frame.” Attack the clothes, don’t attack yourself.
Create a donate pile and a resell pile, and start adding to it for about a month.
When you keep the items and have visually put them in a bin or a crate — it’s much easier to realize you’re down one or two cardigans, a pair of shoes, a belt, or a bag, and that informs what you need/don’t really want to add in again.
The donate pile is a guide of what you want to bring into your wardrobe and what the criteria is that you are looking for (if you do decide to replace an item).
Next, It’s Time to Shop (Cliff Notes of 2025 Trends)
Do you know what you are looking for?
In this blog post, I am going to narrow down what the “trends are.”
Bottoms
All jeans are in, but skinny jeans are still a bit controversial.
Matching sets that look polished and elevated are still all the rage.
Slacks and trousers are really having a moment — Think millennial office club chic (but just twenty years later) and mixed in with 90’s minimalism, and you have it down.
Tops
Blazers, oversized jackets, waist emphasis jackets, cropped box jackets and cardigans, fitted tops, sheer tops, dresses and skirts, and denim everything (also are all in).
Those tend to be what everyone is gravitating towards for Spring 2025.
There are also No Trends!
The pressure is off – wear what you want. Pick from any genre, mix, and match until you feel like you have yourself an outfit.
Colors
Think pastels, deep reds (burgundy), and again — anything you like.
Style Rules to Keep You On Budget
Price per wear.
If you know, you will wear something and will love it. I say buy it.
If you want an item but don’t know how much you would wear it — I say maybe hold off.
Pick one to two things from each category.
Here is a snapshot of trends for 2025.
Why Organizing Your Closet Organizes Your Wallet
When you know what you want to add to your closet, you are much more focused, you feel confident in your choices, and best of all – the clothes you wear are for you (no one else).
When you like how your outfits are coming together, you’re going to spend less.
You will also be more intentional on what you allow in your closet.
