Chili Lime Margarita
Last year on the Bella Kate 22 Instagram, I decided to do a cocktail in stories to share of my favorite Chili Lime Margarita recipe’s because this recipe doesn’t hurt me to drink……
If you’re anything like me, maybe you’re heartburn prone after just one margarita?
So I thought I would go back down memory lane and publish my chili lime margarita on here.
I really love a cool and fresh drink that does not taste too sugary for most of my personal cocktail’s and I think that’s simply an age thing (can’t do sugary drinks like I used to).
What You’ll Need
– An 8 ounce cocktail glass. I really love using a classic whisky glass.
-Lime Juice
-2 Lemons
-Granulated White Sugar
-Water
– A plate
-Cocktail Shaker
-Ice Cubes
-Club Soda
-Orange Juice
Lime Simple Syrup
Because this drink is usually so sugary in its original recipe (the OG margarita), I usually try to skip a lot of additional flavoring, however……adding in a tsp of lime simple syrup really does add a bit more if you’re sensitive to sugary alcohol.
To make, add 1/3rd cup white granulated sugar to 1/3rd cup of water and bring to a boil.
When the simple syrup is done, squeeze the two limes into the simple syrup, stir together and pour into storing jar.
Let the simple syrup cool for about ten minutes in the jar before placing into the fridge.
Chili Lime & Sugar Rim
Last year I only did the chili lime salt rim, but this year I really wanted to make the margarita pack a little more punch on the taste buds so I added white granulated sugar to the mix and placed more chili lime Seasoning on top.
In short, lots of chili lime margarita flakes, less sugar.
Trader Joes offers a great chili margarita salt in the form of their Chili Lime Seasoning mix that you can find in the baking section of their stores.
When making a rimmed glass, take the leftover limes you squeezed into making the simple syrup and reuse the wet rind onto the rim the glass, take the wet rim and place onto the plate of chili lime and sugar and cover the rim in the mixture.
Ice, Ice & More Ice
In the whisky glass place in a cup full of ice cubes (or a gentlemen’s ice-cube, if like me, you ran out of ice as an afterthought of shooting this photo series)…..
Now, fill in about four ice cubes into the cocktail shaker as well.
Chili Lime Margarita Recipe & Directions
-Place one shot of tequila into the cocktail shaker.
-Take 1 tsp of lime simple syrup and pour into the shaker.
-Followed by 3 tsp of lime juice into the shaker (I use fresh limes and also lime juice).
-Place 1or two tsp of orange juice into the shaker.
-Top off with club soda, (about 4-5 ounces).
-Place the cap and lid cap onto the shaker and shake well and pour over ice, garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy!
This recipe makes one drink.
