Alcohol Free Drinks for Celebrating

Back in July, a week or two after my birthday… I decided to cut back on alcohol and become more alcohol-free in my lifestyle.
During the pandemic, I really wanted to make craft cocktails for my blog, and as I was in the hospitality space for a time, it seemed like a no-brainer.
However, I started to really understand that I did not enjoy alcohol like I used to.
I slept terribly, it aged me, and it was making it really hard for me to be happy.
A few months back, I talked about cutting dairy and red meat out (two weeks before I start my period) and how that had helped my periods, and how cutting out dairy had helped my mental health.
Well, I would also like to add that cutting alcohol out was also a great mood enhancer.
Dry January
In January of 2019, I participated in Dry January.
During this time, I really took notice of how my body felt, and what emotions I was feeling and allowed myself to feel the hard emotions I had been suppressing.
This helped me check-in with how I was using alcohol when I felt anxious (enter in the 2016 election and life in general) or stressed.
Little did I know I was building the right building blocks for July of 2022.
Pinpoint What you Like
For me, it was much easier to engage with alcohol less when I realized what sensations I enjoyed when I was drinking in the first place.
One of the themes that was coming up for me was “refreshing.”
To create a refreshing drink in the summer, I used easy store-bought ingredients and juices to unwind, along with tea (my forever favorite calm drink of choice).
Pinpointing what I didn’t like was also helpful.
I didn’t like the smell anymore or how it made me feel.
Recently I had two beers during a night out, and again had the worst sleep of my life.
Not worth it.
Alcohol Free Drinks
My favorite mocktail mix is really easy.
Its main ingredient is club soda, a splash of Safeway’s Organic Pomegranate Italian Soda (awful on its own), and a splash of V8 fruit juice, and, or orange juice.
I really just play around with the mixers and club soda to get a great-tasting mocktail.
Pomegranate, V8 strawberry, and club soda mixed together is perfect for mimicking a fall and wintery cocktail.
Alcohol Free Wines
Another thing I have been loving is St. Regis Wine.
From what I can tell, they have every wine selection.
It’s great.
I tried this for a girl’s night recently and LOVED how I felt the next day.
Dealcoholized wine does still have like 1% alcohol in it, so it’s not totally alcohol-free, but it is worth mentioning.
Flavored fizzy waters, as well as teas, are also great options to unwind.
Elixer-type adaptogens are also making the rounds for people to utilize over the standard cocktail culture we’ve grown accustomed to.
All in all, if you’ve wanted to cut back on alcohol, I hope this encourages you to try it out.
