Alan Cumming, we can understand and empathize with someone with Tourette’s syndrome. It’s the word used. There is a girl online who shares her journey with the same condition and she says innapropriate things. Never racist words. Those are in his brain and it’s a learned behavior and language. That shouldn’t be discounted or dimmed down or ignored. Just as he can’t control his tourettes, minorories can’t control their skin color or others reactions to it. So why are we making excuses for that language? Another thing. I think as I’ve gotten older I just don’t find the n word offensive to me. It means nothing to me because it has nothing to do with me. The people who use it are dirty. The n word means dirty black person, but the people who use it are white and from other brown cultures who exhibit poor hygiene and look unclean and dirty themselves. It’s the projection. Black people are cleaner than most. Alan Cumming did a shit job at mitigating racism at the BAFTAs because he placates white racists over everyone who isn’t white. He fucked up a learning opportunity.
