Effortless Thanksgiving Outfits
As I get older, I realize the importance in having an effortless Thanksgiving outfit.
Thanksgiving is a weird holiday to celebrate in the good ol’ US of A, and even in Canada.
There are so many reasons to examine the festivities altogether, but as a bi-racial black women, Thanksgiving is a special holiday for my dad’s side of the family.
Thanksgiving in general is a holiday most African American’s lean into more than Christmas (monetarily speaking).
You may ask yourself why.
The answer is really easy.
Cooking and baking were the only ways many could afford to celebrate the holiday season.
Christmas was more commercial and expensive, but black households really could celebrate the occasion with soul food.
Not to mention it was the one holiday everyone seemingly had the same type of celebration, being one with food on the table.
To this day, Thanksgiving is still a really big deal amongst black households in America, but many black households understand the plight of indigenous Americans and hold space for indigenous Americans and the hand they have been dealt and are still dealing with today.
To really get into Thanksgiving and black America, I will link this article, which mentions how slaves got Thanksgiving off to visit with their family members on other nearby plantations.
I think it is really important to acknowledge our young countries transgressions because it allows for thoughtful conversation, reflection, accountability and allows us to move forward in unison, instead of excluding the truth to make oppressive narratives feel more comfortable.
Now let’s get into some effortless Thanksgiving outfits, shall we?
Thanksgiving Outfits
The thing about Thanksgiving outfits is that you want to be stylish, yet comfortable.
That is why this year I have opted for these drawstring pleather Loft pants.
When I saw these pants, I saw the outfit I had in mind, and I knew what occasion I would wear them on.
Thanksgiving of course.
As someone who likes a new outfit for most occasions that are out of the ordinary…think birthdays, travel and holidays…….I have been trying to not be like that as I get older.
So, I am paring these new pants with a sweater I bought last year from Target (it’s sold out).
Here is a great sweater that is like my Target pearl and puffed sleeve sweater.
To continue the theme with effortless Thanksgiving outfits, I will be pairing them with black loafers.
Accessories
To finish the look I will probably use my black Dune bag. Here is a great bag that is similar as this Dune bag is sold out.
I will be wearing my hair back, but may accessorize with a maroon or yellow headband.
Next, I will probably make the look more casual with my plaid shacket.
Finally, I will close the look with some brown nails by Essie, but in this shade, with a red lip by Charlotte Tilbury in the shade Red Carpet Red.
More Effortless Looks
I think loose slacks and a button-down shirt work well with comfort, warmth and being able to down some delicious food.
To get the look.
White button down from Amazon. Check out those bell sleeves.
This deep gray pullover sweater is amazing.
To polish off this look…a skinny leather belt.
Dress & Cardigan
My next favorite is an effortless strapless dress with a cardigan and boots.
Sleek Black Effect with a Pop of Nude
This oversized turtleneck sweater, moto leggings, oversized blazer, boots, crossbody bag.
What are you wearing for Thanksgiving?
Let me know in the comments.
