Hi. Hello.
We are in the midst of a very important year here in America; as this week is the week that many of us have been waiting for since the 2016, Presidential Election.
I am not here to lie to you and tell you that November 3rd will be an easy day for anyone by any stretch of the imagination. What I am here to tell you, is that you are not alone and that many people are feeling many things at this time, as the world looks to our country to sort itself back into leadership, diplomacy, maturity, steadfast wholeness and to embrace its constitutional roots at its foundations, so that we can all get on with the rest of our lives; holding our country accountable and looking to ourselves in this “land of the free,” to make it a reality for everyone who lives within its foundations.
When saying all of this, it is a mouthful and there is a lot going on, so I am here to tell you that I have written some helpful tips to get through Tuesday and Wednesday, and perhaps the rest of the week because this is going to be a long week, even after Tuesday.
Results will have to be counted and chaos may ensue. We have to be mentally prepared for literally anything and everything.
Sunday, as I write this (which is odd, because I have my blogs batched in advance but I had the urge to write this today)……today, may we consider planning our week with savvy mindsets and structure.
Step 1: Please clean your house, make a home spa day for yourself, meal prep, go for a walk, read, journal….REST.
Step 2: Make your week as streamlined as possible. Are you planning your meals, are you going to order out? Do you want to just have options in the fridge to grab? Think of those meal options, especially on November 3rd.
Step 3: Stay hydrated. Now, even as I write this with my second cup of coffee in hand, I have set aside my own water bottle to make sure I get my much needed water intake, and I suggest we all try and plan to do the same (even me, lest I get too chaotic).
Step 4: Decide on your news sources for Tuesday and how often you will be checking on those new sources and when and if you will be engaging with social media. Make boundaries with yourself now.
(May I suggest subscribing to Jessica Yellin on Patreon and Instagram?)
Step 5: Listen to your favorite music and or make yourself a playlist. I will share one I made back in July that literally nips all my brain waves into calmness from start to finish. It’s magical to me and it may just be magical to you.
The point is to zone out and clear away the mental chatter.
Step 6: Stretch and or do your workout sometime during the day. Do not let your stored anxiety or anger sit in your body. Move it out of your body and into something productive if you can.
Step 7: Plan to meditate for at least two to five minutes that day and or longer and if you have issues with meditation, I can link some calming music in here via Youtube.
Step 8: What are your mind-numbing tv shows and or YouTube channels that make you just laugh out loud or forget the worlds problems? Write them down now and make a plan to watch them if you feel out of sorts.
I understand that when in anxiety or stress mode our brains literally can shut down and we can be left feeling frozen and stuck and chaotic…
Try to calm down and make a plan now to not be beholden to these mental strongholds by implementing a plan.
Step 9: Have a support team. Who is your support team? Who can you text or call or message that will hear you out and offer you a safe space and vice versa. Communication is a two way street, so if the exchange isn’t supportive, do not engage.
Step 10: Get plenty of sleep.
Sending everyone reading this a hug.
This too shall pass and we will be stronger for it.
Now, don’t forget to vote.
