Red LipSticks For Brown Skin
August is here and I want to talk about four great red lipsticks for brown skin.
I cannot believe that the summer is pretty much to a close.
It’s been weird.
What a time to be alive.
High key recommend?
Okay so, this blog post is about red lipsticks for brown skin, which is very exciting if I do say so myself.
Pre-Fall Red Lipsticks to be exact, that you can wear all year round……..
The Hunt For Perfect Red Lipsticks
I feel like this post is exactly the kind of post I would have wanted as a sixteen year old.
As I have gotten older I have really only wanted to find the perfect red lipstick.
I am sure most brown and black women can relate to wanting to finding a great red lipstick…….. and I hope that this blog post helps people like me, find what they are looking for in a red lipstick.
Red lipstick for brown skin is actually somewhat of a task when you are a brown or black person, because most “reds” end up looking orange on us, and it is kind of a bummer, man.
I cannot tell you how many times I have seen a red lipstick in an advertisement and thought…..
“This is going to be such a perfect red on me,” only to find out that it is very orange upon application and I am left feeling a bit sad and like I wasted my money.
Luckily, I found some really great red lipsticks for brown skin that I want to share and red lipsticks that I love.
These lipsticks are pretty decently priced when considering they range from under $40 to under $10 and as a consumer that is something I want to look for as well as find for other people.
There is something in here for everyone.
I was actually really impressed by the drugstore lipsticks as well as with the higher end ones.
Red Lipsticks For Brown Skin Sample Try On
Petal Bouche By Violette_FR
In the top left of the above photo square I am wearing Petal Bouche by Violette_FR.
I think this shade is worth every penny and I love how much effort went into making this shade and I love how it was made for all women.
I love this color because it is the perfect deep red on me and was made to work on all skin tones.
The formulation Violette created is kind of color revolutionary and it took her a really long time to get the perfect shade, and don’t quote me, but I think she made it vegan, which is rare to get the kind of red she ended up with……which is perfection.
The journey of her lipstick Petal Bouche (as told by Violette) is linked in her Youtube Video below.
“The Best” by NYX Cosmetics
In the top right-hand corner I am wearing NYX cosmetics lipstick in the shade, “The Best.”
I like how this lipstick is very hydrating and how it is not too orange in color against my skin tone, not to mention, I love how affordable it is in general.
“Spicy” By NYX Cosmetics
In the bottom left-hand corner photo, I am wearing the shade “Spicy” by NYX.
This formula is a lot like velvet and it goes on very matte, which is really lovely for nights out, just like Petal Bouche.
Because “spicy” had a liner option that matched the lipstick, I thought it would be important to incorporate that in how I wore the look for the photo series.
As a result, I am wearing the “Spicy” liner, which goes nicely with all the lipsticks, but for the sake of this blog post, this is the only photo with liner so you could see the colors on their own.
“Red Carpet Red” By Charlotte Tilbury
Finally, in the last photo in the bottom right-hand corner, I am wearing, “Red Carpet Red” from Charlotte Tilbury.
To conclude, all the lipsticks were great and I didn’t find issue with one.
But, if you’re going to ask me to pick a favorite, I cannot and will not……
However, I think that as far as a true red goes, and for the intensity, I love to reach for Petal Bouche the most….But, I generally hate picking/playing favorites.
There are great reasons to reach for all of the red lipsticks mentioned in today’s blog post.
Now that you have seen them on brown skin, do you have a favorite lipstick that you would like to try?
What is your favorite red lipstick currently?
Is there a lipstick you think I should check out?
Let me know in the comments below.
Talk to you later.
