Spring 2024 Fashion Trends You Can Actually Afford

Welcome to almost Spring, where I will be talking about the Spring 2024 trends.
This past summer, I loved speaking about fashion trends as they were happening on the street.
Next, I got immersed in TikTok trend culture through osmosis and participation.
The end result of micro trends and my stance on it?
I think I am over it.
It was a bummer towards the end of it for me. It melted my mind in a way.
Kind of like when I almost majored in English, and my love of books was torn from my soul. Slowly re-working that.
If I have any advice for young adults. Don’t study what you love.
The best teachers? Life and movement.

With all of that, I gave myself some time to recalibrate my love of fashion and some much needed boundaries within trends culture.
As a fashion and lifestyle blog, do I need to cover every micro trend?
No.
So, I have decided that if I would have covered it ten years ago, I will likely give that topic precedence over a micro trend.
What did I see on the runways via the comfort of my own home?
I did watch a few shows. Probably seven in total.
The Gist
Big statement earrings.
One or two earrings at a time, and sometimes mismatched.
Water color prints.
Layered chunky jewelry.
I loved Chanel’s nod to Karl Lagerfeld this time around.
Chanel felt very early aughts — that is my favorite timeline for the brand, as that is when I discovered Chanel as an 18 year old.
Lot’s of 1970’s vibes.
I did feel like Charlies Angels would have loved the Chanel show. I really do.

Jaclyn Smith and Kate Jackson had to have been a muse for some of the shapes, designs and prints.
The opening look of the Chanel show was 1970s brunette, nerd chic.
Armani Privé was very late 90s, early aughts formal. I kept envisioning princesses from all over the world attending a wedding as I watched the models on the screen. Ethereal and very beautiful, yet also understated (but still exaggerated…in a word — effortless).

You’ll be seeing a lot of tailored suits in neutrals and pastels as they make their way to a store near you.
YSL stayed neutral in tailored suits and was chic and sexy as usual. Very much the basic wardrobe pieces you invest in.

Alexander McQueen brought the heat with a fun and elegant collection for spring/summer 2024.

Of all the shows, I did see a lot of 1960s shift dresses — If you can get your hands on a mod shift dress, even better.
There were not a lot of sequins.
Raffia bags, platform shoes, logo less bags, accessories and silk were very much a part of the shows.
In a word or two — structured movement.
Happy Spring Fashion 2024 to you!
