The Tommy Hilfiger and Sofia Collection – It Makes Sense

Shall we talk about the Tommy Hilfiger and Sofia Ritchie Grainge collection? AKA the “Sofia for Tommy Collection.”

I think we should.

This was an exciting collaboration, and I think it makes a lot of sense.

Sofia’s pre-bridal fashion debut had a lot of younger women in a chokehold, and it screamed American princess, old Americana – which is why this collaboration is the perfect combination, with the Tommy Hilfiger brand being the brainchild of modern-day preppy, classic, and youthful Americana fashion. 

If I were to say which females have dominated the TikTok pages in the last few years, it would be Sofia RG and Hailey BB.

What do Sofia and Hailey have? Status, fashion sense, and gaggles of women trying to mimic their every move. 

This collaboration was actually a genius idea!

If I had to place the comparison on the “it girls of my 20” it would be Sienna Miller, Nicole Ritchie, The Hilton sisters, the Olsen twins — just to name a few. 

What I love is that I would NEVER in a million years have thought of this collaboration. It seems so oddball, yet it makes total sense. 

If you are as old as I am, you may remember the show “Rich Girls” on MTV — it has been banned from ever being seen on streaming, but it was my all-time favorite MTV show to watch in high school, and so the pairing of Rock and Fashion generational royalty meeting again in this collaboration feels a little full circle, but at the same time, brings excitement, a revival in the way in which younger generations interact with the Tommy Hilfiger brand itself.

This boucle jacket is such a fun and relaxed way to embrace a usually more structured fit. 

I love that it has been reimagined into something classic and still casual enough.

Can you see the 1940s shoulder structure peeking through?

I only wish it came in solid colors.

A classic trench.

I really love that she created a bridal piece for the girls who would appreciate her take. I think the idea with this dress is that it can be styled with the dress as the focal point, but she is offering her fans a chance to do a layered vest or longer jacket look over it (which is what she did a lot of during her wedding week). 

Can we just have a little commotion for the jacket?

Is This Collection for You?

Can you appreciate a well-thought-out capsule collaboration? I can.

I only wish that the collaboration had more solid color options. If you love a stripe, I think this collection is going to be something you may want to invest in.

What Sofia and Tommy did was really genius. They both stuck to their own values and brought something specific to Sofia’s audience and even the Tommy Hilfiger brand. 

These pieces are done in such a way that age is of no consequence, as it fits every age range. It’s also really spectacular that they were able to tap into the zeitgeist moment of what Sofia has tapped into on her own.
