Example: “Babe, I really don’t want to go out on Valentine’s Day, but I would like for us to have dinner at home and cook together. What do you think? Also, what would you like?”

It at least opens the dialogue for you to state your expectations and to come to some agreement on how you will be celebrating.

If your partner repeatedly screws up what you have asked for…. “Weaponized incompetence.”

Please buy yourself a gift and know that someone out there can treat you how you would like to be treated, and the first person who can do that for you, is you!
