Looking at the runway shows online is super duper fun – hence this Valentino Spring edit edition.
This makes me so happy to see fashion through its full creative lens.
Usually, I wouldn’t really consider myself to vibe with the Valentino aesthetic as much, but I will share why a bit later as blog posts progress throughout the spring and summer months.
The Spring 2025 Fashion Show – A Mood
When the show opened, it felt like a mix of watching a Hogwarts backdrop while also watching the play of Coroline brought into real life.
Maybe even a touch of the Great Gatsby, where the furniture (covered in white sheets) felt like you were watching a play take place in a weird and abandoned mansion or cafe.
Valentino brought on the 1920s, 1970s, and early aughts silhouettes where he had his models offering the audience faces of a steeped in seething and unsettling depression.
Sad music, followed by sullen-faced models who walked uncomfortably on shattered and shiny black floors, walking amongst the audience in flowy and sometimes tailored fabrics.
Valentino & Accessories
A show made very androgynous and feminine.
What was I watching?
Truly, it felt like watching people come out amongst the rubble of an abandoned wartime era. Poetic and also scary.
Opening the show were models adorned in flamboyant collars that, if you wanted to compare it to a clown accessory (due to the upturned nature of the collar), you could.
Models walked along broken glassed flooring in fabulous clothes that were styled in a whimsically dowdy way.
Clowns amongst the rubble?
As if these outfits were just thrown together, while other models were styled in an almost ghostly and romantic form.
Does Valentino know something the viewer doesn’t?
Models wore double bags (which has been a trend for a minute), and the shoes were seemingly patterned, pointed, and uncomfortable (If I am remembering how the models walked – it was mostly done to create the theme even more so — or so it seemed).
I really had a fun time watching this show, but the overall vibe did make my stomach churn a bit (vibes were sad), ngl!
