Wind Down Routine Tips & Tricks:
Sleep…… and I can only speak for myself, has been a weird code to crack in the age of Covid.
Staying indoors, staying at home, venturing outdoors, trying to make a routine in the mundane while trying to stay sane, while also trying to see all the goodness this life has to offer has left me feeling a bit restless, how about you?
Restless antics late at night are a beast to crack and everyone has a different relationship with rest, sleep, anxiety and routine and I think these aspects all play a part in how well we lay down to sleep.
There have been many times, and when I say many times, I mean many times a day where I find myself not being generously mindful with myself, my words, my approach and so I have recently started to journal again.
Journaling is one of those exercises where you can just write out whatever comes to mind and seek council from your higher self. It’s a place where you don’t have to be overly cautious of how your emotions make you feel and or how your emotions maybe aren’t showing up in a way you would normally expect.
Journaling takes the crowded spaces of your mind and allows you to set down the burden while seeking solace in that there is a solution to almost everything and sometimes that solution is to let it all out.
My next tip has been movement throughout the day and or early evening. This way, I let my body free itself of any lingering energy I need to move out of my body and let that restlessness go.
Daily movement does not always guarantee that you won’t be amped in a few hours, but it does give you a mental reset on how you can best respond to your day.
Next on the wind down routine is taking a nightly shower before bed. This has to be my most favorite of wind down exercises; allowing me me to wash the day away. In this way, I feel fresh and new as I transition from day to night and I normally start to pick up the house at this point, if the house is not already in order for the next day.
Finally, I either switch between my acupressure mat or decide that I will take some CBD oil (THC FREE).
Acupressure mats were not something that I had heard of before, but it was suggested by a fitness instructor and influencer, Maeve Madden via her stories, and I thought I would give it a try and I was not disappointed. It is a game changer.
There are expensive and eco-friendly versions of this mat and there are also some cheaper versions that are more budget friendly.
The most expensive was by the brand Pranamat, however, I have listed some of the cheaper versions.
If you struggle with sleep, a few minutes on this spiked baby will literally make you sleep as sound as a kitten and will help alleviate any stress, tension or pain. It can be used on all parts of your body, wherever you are needing the pressure to be focused.
If you are pregnant or have health issues, do not use the CBD oil or the acupressure mat as this may put you at a health risk.
Please consult a doctor if you ever do make changes to your routines.
I hope this blog post finds you well and getting into some wellness peaks, as this past year really put us all through a lot.
Here’s to hoping the new year in a new month goes a bit smoother.
Talk to you soon.
